The NCAA recently released its annual men's basketball attendance statistics and Florida Gulf Coast, with an average attendance of 4,340, ranked first in the Atlantic Sun.
Across the entire Atlantic Sun there was an average attendance of 1,933 - putting the A-Sun at 25th among the 32 conferences in the nation.
FGCU was one of only five schools (Nebraska, Syracuse, Virginia, and SMU) in the country to see an attendance increase of over 2,000. The Eagles grew from an average of 2,291 fans in 2012-13 to 4,340 in 2013-14. Of the 13 Division I schools in Florida, the Eagles stood at No. 6 behind Florida, FSU, Miami, USF, and UCF.
Coming off a Atlantic Sun regular season title and a NIT appearance, FGCU heads into the 2014-15 season with arguably the strongest roster in program history. It's possible that the Eagles will break their attendance record, again.
