Eagles Take Titles At FGCU Fall Invitational

Courtesy of Linwood Ferguson
The FGCU Men's Tennis defended Dunk City last weekend as they took both the singles and doubles title at the FGCU Fall Invitational.

Jordi Vives (Barcelona, Spain) and Tianya Bao (Tianjin, China) took the doubles title after a 8-6 win over Barry University's Ahmed Tricki and Fabian Groetsch. The same two Eagles took the court again in the blue singles finals.

Vives, the No. 1 seed, crushed his opponents on the way to the finals. As did the 13 seeded Bao. Once the Eagle on Eagle competed started, Vives dropped the first set 6-4. In a set two tiebreak, Vives topped Bao 7-6 (5). The 2nd set apparently gave him some more gas in the tank as he won the 3rd set 6-1.
